Thought that I just celebrate the new year not long ago, this is already the 3rd training for the year. I always heard from people that they will do something in the new year or they're planning something for the new year.
However, if the plan is not put into action, it will always be just a plan. It will not happen if you're not executing the plan.
It is actually quite simple and easy when executing the plan, save the plan into the calendar, when it came up, all you need to do is just "SHOW UP", free up all your mental juice thinking should I come to this training or the next one.
We have the same number turned up as last week. In this session, we went for a long-distance paddling since the coach is not around.
We started from SQ's marina and given ourselves 20 minutes to reach the Tikus island located approximately 2.62km away.
1 boat managed to reach the island within the time while the other boat is slightly delay. We landed for some rest and snack
...and of course some photos. The Sun is shining, it not just good for vitamin D, it is also good lighting for the photos as well.
When it getting warmer, we're leaving the island, sending our boat for maintenance
That right, our boats need to service like your car too. In conjunction with Chinese New Year break, our boats will be park on the shores for a few weeks undergo some repair and re-painting. We'll be back again in February.
In the second training of the year, members are bringing more friends and newbies to join us as this is the best time to get the paddling training in basic, building the foundation, enjoy being the "passenger" (",) get some sea breeze and sun out there :p
The coach also plans the training program for seasonal paddlers to get some strength training while the newbies get to paddle it right, not so much in volume, and get special attention from the coach.
It is in the right mix to get everyone train together. We have 33 pax turned up for the training breaking last week's record of 30 pax. This number will become the statistic in our year-end scorecard.
We welcome more people to come and paddle with us. Dragon Boat paddling is for all.
A bright morning Sun.
Walking in a big group to the platform. The unique scene of a team sport
Before we end the session, we race with another boat back to the dock.
We don't mind which boat win at the end. Everyone is the winner when turned up for training.
This is the first training in 2022. We start fresh and back to basic training. Even there are some seasonal paddlers, everyone practices the same, learning from the very basic 101 and building up the foundation together as a team.
In the appointment, 26 pax registered but 30 pax turned up for the training included 4 newbies and 1 guest paddler from Sydney. Everyone is welcome to paddle with us. We love to meet new friends and do some exchange.
Coach is rolling out the training program, correcting posture, and guiding newbies to integrate with the team. It was a fruitful paddling session and good start for new season.
The basic look simple. To master it, it required time + deliberate practice.
You think that paddling just used the arms but in fact, it is a whole body exercise that required lots of bending and twisting of body
It was a nice weather on last Sunday
In 2021, the best turned up for a session is 28 pax. This is new record in 2022 - 30 pax.
The queue to wash up after paddling.
